Easter

Growing up I remember Easter being a big deal. One year I recall my Nana having had Easter baskets made for us that were out of milk carton, we thought they were the neatest things ever, looking back at pictures now they were not the prettiest things. Then another year we went to my mom's aunt and uncle's farm and hunted eggs with our cousins and neighbor friends. Another year we had a BIG egg hunt at my Nana and Papa's house with all of our friends.

My mom has carried on the tradition and makes Easter a special time for my kids by making them baskets and having an egg hunt for them every year. She even, when she can, makes the most delicious cookies ever that will always remind me of Easter and my Nana.

We do an Easter basket at home for the boys as well and they were excited to dig into them on Easter morning. After the fun we got ready and headed to church. Tucker couldn't wait to go into his class, I am so glad we have found a place he loves, and we do too. Once church was over we headed home for a quick lunch and then to Aunt Jennifer and Uncle Scott's to eat with our family and his family and hunt eggs. The boys had so much fun playing with their cousins.

Griffin was more interested in playing with an empty egg than actually hunting for eggs on Easter.

Tucker had a blast finding eggs with the help of Aunt Kicken.

We weren't able to get a picture of the four of us together...a certain 3 year old isn't too interested in getting his picture taken lately.

Egg Hunt

This morning we loaded up in the car to head to Eagle's Trace, where Aunt Kicken (Kristen) works, to our first egg hunt this weekend. Tucker and Griffin were both unsure about the Easter Bunny but enjoyed getting to find eggs.

11 Months Old

I can hardly believe that Griffin is going to be 1 in less than a month.

Here are some of the new things that he is up too....

  • Saying lots of words; Mama, Dada, Uh-Oh, Up
  • Getting new teeth; two top and two bottom
  • Taking around 3-4 steps by himself
  • Playing with any kind of ball
  • Loving cheerios, blueberry puffs and ritz crackers to snack on
  • Figuring out how to use a sippy cup and making the worst faces when tasting the water inside, though he always goes back for more
  • Putting objects up to his ear and "talking" like he is on the phone
  • Having quite the temper when brother takes something away from him that he is playing with
  • Being destructive; this boy can make the play room messy in no time at all
  • Climbing onto and into everything
  • Singing himself to sleep
  • Getting his first hair cut, which he wasn't too happy about
  • Enjoying ice cream but it not agreeing with him, fairly certain he is going to have a  milk allergy
  • Being a people person, he loves to be around  people and not to be left alone, not even for a second

Wheels

Tucker LOVES anything that has wheels; cars, monster trucks, trains and many more. A few weekends ago we went to the car show and he was in heaven. He called the cars "shiny" and enjoyed getting to sit in them and pretend to drive them.

New Things

Griffin has been changing a lot lately.

Two nights ago, on January 20th, he crawled over to me and pulled up and said Mama. He has been saying it over and over again. He is also making other new sounds like babababa too.

Tonight while we were eating dinner he was fussy and I asked him if he wanted more puffs and he signed "more." He is growing up way too fast. Can hardly believe that he is already 10 months old.

1%

This past Sunday on our way into church Tucker was running and slipped because the floor was wet. He landed face first on the floor and when he got up there was blood everywhere. Mommy knew it wasn't his lip and upon closer examination saw that his tongue was split on the tip. Everyone rushed to help us and we headed to Texas Children's.

By this time the bleeding had stopped. We saw the triage nurse and she said 99% of the time they don't stitch tongues but he looks like he'll be the 1% that does. The doctor confirmed we were having our tongue stitched up.

The doctor gave him some go to sleep medicine and the first dose didn't work so they had to give him more. Half way through the procedure he started crying and clamped his mouth shut. They had to give him more medicine to keep him out to finish.

Tucker got 5 stitches in his tongue. When he woke up he was very loopy and because he had the pulse ox on his toe it was red and he started waving his foot in the air and making noises like an ambulance.

Most certainly not the way that Daddy wanted to spend his 33rd birthday but his touch calmed Tucker just like it has since he was in the NICU.
