Labor Day

After being in school for almost 3 weeks, we needed a 3 day weekend from school. Griffin got ear infections in both ears last week and we found out the next day his room had mold in it due to a leaking pipe in the attic. He has been bunking in Mommy and Daddy's room and him and Mommy aren't getting much sleep.

Last night we got together with the Traphagan side of the family to celebrate Labor Day and the Griffin side tonight. The boys sure do love getting to play with their cousins.

Growing up, Pop (Mommy's dad), always made homemade ice cream. He still likes to make it on special occasions. Tucker was his assistant this afternoon with mixing up the ice cream and helping put in more ice and rock salt. Griffin and Tucker both enjoyed getting to eat Pop's ice cream. Tucker went back for 3rds!

School

Both of the boys seem to be adjusting pretty well to our new school. Tucker goes in every morning without a problem and Griffin is getting better about Mommy walking away from him. They are both learning so much. Here are some pictures of them at school this past week.

Wesley Academy

Yesterday started the new chapter for the boys, attending Wesley Academy.

It was quite interesting getting a picture of the two boys before we left the house, bright and early.

The best one that we could got.

We have to leave super early in the mornings, 6 am, to beat the traffic before mommy has to be there at 7:30. Once we arrived at school the boys wanted to play in mommy's room and started throwing stacking things all over the room. (Mommy learned her lesson and now brings our breakfast to eat once we are there, leaving little free time before we go to our classes.)

We dropped Tucker off at his class first and he walked right in and starting playing with the home center and talking on the phone. He is loving his teacher, Ms. LeBlanc, and is already learning so much, even though we are only on day 2 now.

Griffin had a much harder time leaving Mommy. Ms. Melanie took him from Mommy and he adjusted very quickly. Mommy was told he didn't cry too long and is now attached to her. His teachers are very impressed with how well he communicates with them and how much he eats. He loves it when Mommy comes to pick him up in the afternoons.

Books

Griffin's latest obsession is books. He wants to sit and read books, one, two, three, or even four times through before getting another one.

One of his favorites is this book. He loves to pull down the flaps inside all by himself and make the noises that some of the animals make in the story.

He was very fussy tonight, we couldn't figure out why, and the only thing that calmed him down was Mommy reading to him. I read him one book and asked him to bring me the book that says "I wrote to the zoo to send me a pet, they sent me an Elephant, he was too big, so I sent him back." He went to dig in the book box and brought me the story I asked for.

Maybe this is common with 17 month olds but I'm not too sure.

Outside

The boys love being outside so much that I usually have to drag them in because they are so hot. We have been playing with water to try to help stay cool lately in the wonderful Houston heat of the summer.

Such a big boy

At the beginning of the summer we tried potty training, Tucker wasn't ready at all. Mommy and Daddy went on vacation and when they came home we started again. The first three days were very very rough with lots of accidents. The number of accidents has gotten a lot smaller and he is telling us when he needs to go the bathroom. One afternoon after we had an accident free day we went to get pink ice cream as a treat.

15 months

Griffin I can hardly believe that you are already 15 months old.

Here is what you are up too.

Things you do.....
  • Copy your brother (all the time)
  • Climb on everything
  • Clap to sign more
  • Follow mommy around the house (or anywhere) everywhere and get very upset if she gets out of your sight
  • Make car noises as you drive them on the floor
  • Play peek a boo with yourself
  • Point to whatever snack you want to eat
  • Turn on your birds as soon as we get into the car and get so excited when brother turns them on for you
  • Chew on your fingers all the time, you seem to have teeth coming in every time mommy looks in your mouth
  • Pretend to blow bubbles with whatever looks like a bubble wand
  • Reading books, drawing with chalk, attempting puzzles and unbuilding whatever mommy builds
  • Take off your shoes ALL the time
  • Say hand when you want to hold Mommy's hand. She can also say this to you if she needs you to hold her hand when we are out and you obey.
  • Whenever I change your (or brother's diaper) you say trash and want to take the diaper to the trash for mommy. Mommy often has to lock the trash can because you like to play in it.

Things you are saying......
  • Thanks
  • Cup
  • Mama
  • Dada
  • Ball
  • Up
  • Dog (can make dog noises too)
  • Cat
  • Book
  •  Boon for Spoon
  • Quack, Quack
  • All Done and All Gone
  • Stuck

Things you like to eat.......pretty much everything. You are becoming so independent and want to use your spoon and fork all by yourself. You get mad if anyone tries to help you.

You are changing all the time, learning from brother (not always the best things), and turning into quite the toddler with your own personality. One of mommy's favorite things about you is your infectious smile, I can't get enough of it.
